A unique virtual event for Visit Flanders that re-connected Australian travel agents with two fabulous elements of Flemish culture; beer and chocolates.

 

Objectives – To re-connect travel agents to Flanders during a covid lockdown through a fun, interactive and informative session, tasting beer paired with pralines, hosted live from Flanders.

Overview -

Participants were each sent a special box of three different types of beer from Flanders and a box of Godiva chocolates to open and enjoy  during the live tasting.  Visit Flanders worked in conjunction with a beerologist from a local specialised tour company “Beer Secret” in Flanders.  Participants tuned in via Zoom to learn more about the history and cultural connection of each of the different types of beer, partnering each with a particular praline (or two!).

 

Outcomes

The initial session was so popular it was fully booked within 30 minutes of invitations being extended.  Subsequently a second session was also held to accommodate the overwhelming response.

 

Suffice to say this was no ordinary webinar!  For one-hour, participants escaped the stress and isolation of being locked down during covid.   The taste, smell and overall sensory experience enabled participants to connect with two of Flanders great cultural passions; beer and chocolates – a part of the DNA of Flanders and a must-include on every visit to the region.
